teddybears and spaceships

Anonymous asked: Why has the Death Penalty only been used on a supervillain once that I can remember? (Spider-Slayer) If the MU government is willing to build robots to kill innocent mutant civilians because they see them as a threat, and try to kill Superheroes whenever they go against the government, then they should be more than willing to kill actual threats that are more dangerous than Smythe when they have them in custody, especially with all those breakouts, like the Red Skull.

The real reason, of course, is that we’re going to need those villains again in the months and years to come.

At a certain point, you can poke at this stuff too far. People who can fly through the air and lift battleships exist. It’s not really a stretch at that point to believe that, for whatever reason, the citizens and politicians of the Marvel Universe do not favor a death penalty.

Makes perfect sense on the meta level, no sense in-universe.

And now, of course, I want someone to write the dystopian AU where the death penalty exists, and god help you if you have superpowers and you´re politically inconvenient and you step an inch out of line…

Filed under marvel mu worldbuilding fun with AUs there would be a resistant movement of course labeled terrorists and executed on sight except the few with too high profiles like Cap but everyone knows one day there´ll be an accident magneto and xavier and wolverine are long dead wanda is dead and so many others tommy would be dead :( kate would be a political activist by day resistance fighter by night billy and teddy would be too fucking terrified to do anything eli would be a resistance fighter cassie would want to be nate finds it very strange and at first doesn´t know what to make of it i really want this story young avengers and poor kamala the runaways are probably all dead... so is spider-man i could go on but I don´t want to
